Emma Toole | Conference Co-Chair

Emma (she/her/hers) is from Nova Scotia and is in her final year of her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Emma loves working with others as it is the perfect opportunity to learn and grow. Throughout her time at UNB she has been involved in a number of different clubs and societies, always looking to expand her horizon and meet like-minded individuals. Emma hopes that the Girls STEM Up conference will help continue the conversation and help to end the negative stigma surrounding women in STEM professions. In her free time she enjoys being outside, hiking, skiing, and exploring new places! Emma looks forward to empowering other females in STEM disciplines while fostering inclusivity at this year's conference.

Kalli Wilson | Conference Co-Chair

Kalli (she/her/hers) is in her final year of a BSc with a major in Biology with a minor in Wildlife Conservation at the University of New Brunswick. Throughout her three years at UNB, she has had the opportunity to work in a Watershed Aquatic Monitoring Research Lab with Dr. Gray which helped instill her passion for research in the conservation area. When she isn’t attempting to memorize the latin names of different species of birds, trees, fish or shrubs, you can find her watching reruns of How I Met Your Mother or enjoying her favourite Canadian beverage, an iced capp from Tim Hortons.

Abbie Pauline

Delegates Chair

Abbie (She/Her) is from a small town in Nova Scotia, but has come to love calling Fredericton home. She is in her 4th year of Nursing, and plans to continue on to medical school to become a paediatrician. She loves being involved with events on campus as has previously been a peer mentor and Red-Shirt Orientation Leader. She is passionate about people following their dreams and hopes to show other girls and all young people that it is possible to achieve their goals in the science field.

Ashton Grigg

Ashton (she/her) is from Tyne Valley, P.E.I. and is in her third year of a Biology-Chemistry degree in the Pre-Health Professions stream with plans to pursue a PharmD degree. When she is not studying, Ashton loves to get involved with her community through various volunteer roles, reading, and listening to podcasts on long walks. She is so thrilled to help empower and excite young women about what the STEM fields have to offer them through this year’s conference!

Originally from Bangkok, Book (she/her) is in her final year of Honour in Computer Science. As a firm believer that digital skills are tools of empowerment, Book has been devoting her time to her advocacy and volunteer work in improving accessibility of digital skills and computer science education. Book is carving a career path in the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and medicine. She is thrilled to be a part of Girls Stem Up to inspire the next generations of Steminists.

Anajose Reyes

Speakers Chair

Anajose Reyes (she/her) is a second year Biology student and is originally from Mexico City. She has a particular interest in marine ecology, and so she loves exploring the outdoors and being by the ocean. Currently, she is the Multicultural Initiatives Coordinator for the UNB Student Union where she works to foster diversity and intersectionality on campus. Anajose hopes to promote these values through the Girls STEM Up conference as she strives to create spaces and community for women and girls in STEM.

Casey Leonard

Delegates Chair

Casey Leonard (she/hers/her) is from a small town in New Brunswick called Perth-Andover. She is now in her third year of a biology degree, concentrating on molecular/microbiology! Casey loves her degree and plans on furthering her education by pursuing a masters. Some of Casey’s favorite activities to do outside of school are to volunteer at her local SPCA and participate in yoga/fitness classes.

Hannah Boucher

Logistics Chair

Hannah (she/her) is in her fourth year of Medicinal Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics at the University of New Brunswick. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys baking, volunteering with local nursing homes, and spending time with friends and family. Being involved with different science and research orientated groups on campus, Hannah is excited to use her passion for STEM to encourage others to discover their interests through this year’s conference!

Eve Macdonald

Finance Chair

Eve (She/Her) is in her fourth year of Electrical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick. In addition to being part of the Girls Stem Up team, she is a member of the Varsity Women’s Soccer Team and is on the organization committee for the Canadian Engineering Competition. Eve is very passionate about education and is dedicated to providing youth with as many opportunities as possible. She is excited to be part of the STEM Up team and can’t wait to share her passion with others.

Kate Tucker

Communications Chair

Kate (she/her) is from Corner Brook, Newfoundland and is in her third year of Renaissance College with a minor in pre-health sciences. She loves being active, spending time outdoors and trying new craft projects. Kate is also involved on campus as the RCS treasurer, an RC Peer Mentor and a Residence Proctor. She is a longtime advocate for women and girls in STEM and is thrilled to be putting that passion to action through this year’s conference!

Lydia Chong

Graphic Design & Marketing Chair

Lydia (She/Her) is a fourth year student at the University of New Brunswick. She is in her fourth year of her Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology and plans to continue her education in becoming an occupational therapist. During her degree, Lydia has become highly involved in the UNB and surrounding Fredericton community through being a BlackShirt orientation leader, a peer mentor, VP communications for the KIN Society, volunteer medical first responder, and more!

Sarah Kelly

Logistics Chair

Sarah (She/Her) is a 4th year Science student at UNB with a Math Major and a Chemistry minor. She is incredibly passionate about inclusivity and inspiring people of all ages to believe in themselves while being creative with the exciting learning opportunities that exist around them - one of the many reasons why she is beyond excited to be part of the Girls STEM Up Conference again this year! Sarah loves getting involved in her community - both on and off campus. She has a dream of being a teacher in the future.

Nicole Patricia

Nicole (She/Her) is currently studying Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Biology minor. She hails from the Philippines where she grew up in Manila and Laguna. Outside of academics, she loves to do research. Over the summer, she had two research positions for UMNB and Behaviour Change Lab respectively. She was also the Vice President for Marketing for Girl Up Philippines and Sponsorships Chair for Reaching Higher 2021. She is an advocate for quality education, gender equality, and diversity. She is excited to empower young women like her through this conference.

Rachel (She/Her) is in her fourth year of her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Shediac, NB. She has a special interest in Marine Biology and the overall conservation of our aquatic wildlife. She is exhilarated to be a part of Girls Stem Up – a team that motivated and empowers women to do truly everything their hearts desire. She unequivocally loves to learn from everyone around her and is excited to be returning as an executive member of this conference.

Maegan Burtt

Maegan (she/her/hers) is from Burtts Corner, New Brunswick and is in her fourth year of a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In addition to being a part of the Girls Stem Up executive team, Maegan is also a Peer Mentor and Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Leader for the Faculty of Science. She loves spending time outdoors and enjoys hiking, snorkeling and spotting wildlife. Maegan is very passionate about empowering women in STEM and cannot wait to bring this year’s conference to life!
